What an amazing week we had in Tobermory spending time at this cottage. It was such a perfect place on the banks of Willow Creek with a view behind of Lake Huron. Secluded from all sides with not one person in sight it really felt like a retreat. Their were kayaks to use,a paddle boat a huge deck even the top bedroom had a deck, there was so much wildlife around the cottage we had ducks chilling with us and the local rabbit was always hoping around, so many birds would come to the feeders we had a book of different birds and we see some blue jays northern cardinals, woodpeckers chickadees, robins, American goldfinches even a few we couldn’t find in the book and the river was awesome there was a Great Blue Heron always stocking the creek looking for food cause Willow Creek has rainbow trout and as well brown trout, you even can fish in there and we also seen a King Fisher Bird which dives into the water at full speed to catch a fish then fly’s away -it was so neat to see and even 1 bald eagle was their on the 1st night and the best animal of all that was at the cottage was the Flying Squirrel (im serious) he was crazy and they only come out at night and if you leave the bird feeder on the deck guess whos gonna show up ( yup i was out on the deck one night taking photos of the stars and i heard something scurry up the side railing and it was him the flying squirrel so i kept my flashlight on him and then he disappeared then about 2 minutes later i see him on the branch of the tree about 20 feet away then all of a sudden he jumped from the tree and i just seen i white blob flying towards me on the deck as i panicked and jumped out of the way here comes the Flying Squirrel and he glided in for a landing then ran up the railing back to the bird feeder –(it was amazing to see that) what a trip! True story)
Dali loved it there too just relaxing on the deck taking in all the fresh air, doing what babies do and one of our favorite parts was going hiking in the Bruce National Park. What an amazing spot that is Dali was loving his backpack that he rides in and just chilled the whole way looking around at all the trees as we hiked thew the forest trails ( He must have a great view from in there We hiked into the Grotto one day and then the Half Log Road trail another day both places are so beautiful as the rock formations jetted out making their way into the saturated turquoise waters of Georgin Bay it really feels like your somewhere in the Caribbean or Philippines. Its was so nice just having that adventure with views like that to end the hike I very highly recommend you visit Tobermory and spend some time on the Bruce cause i guarantee you will love it. Our days ended Barbequing just like in this photo spending time on the deck reading and hanging out with Dali having supper watching the sun fall west as the full Moon came out each night just taking in the surroundings. We have traveled to many spots around the world and spent time searching for places like this area (little huts tucked away from the world with so much to do nearby if you want to ) and to know that their is something like this in Ontario is really awesome. Tobermory is areal gem and It was sad when we had to pack up and come home but we know for sure we will be back next summer Dali will be older and i can already picture him running around the cottage chasing after that rabbit
(no Dali we cant catch the Rabbit This was week 24 of 52. Cottage Life in Tobermory
