It may seem odd to you but when I take walks in the winter i always carry a shovel.
Why you may ask? Im not really sure maybe it stems from that time i got stuck on my ski-doo way back on the 12th line trail at 1am–and i didn’t have a shovel–it was a near loss experience and when i final make it out walking for 7 miles i vowed that from that day on i would always have a shovel with me everyday in the winter. Its actualy helped me out more then you think but i must say it is cumbersome to carry around and gets in the way most of the day. Well where does this stop–none of that is true and i was just looking for an intro to this photo and i seem ot digress more often then not when i write these descriptions but now that that is out of the way here we go
It was a winter morning as you can see and as w have just got back from Cuba not long ago and our last photo was on the beach plus 30 weather. So i thought that this would be a great juxtaposition to that warm tropical Island feel–cause this is Canada eh. Minus 30 has been the norm for this winter thats minus 30 Celsius for all my Fahrenheit friends-frezzing cold so when we get a little bit of a nice day say minus 8 then its time to get out of the house and take a winter walk. So that’s what we did.
Dali has this awesome vintage 1970’s red sleigh (that Brandy gave to us. Thanks so much Brandy its such an awesome ride for Dali!) and we thought that this would be a great was to capture week 2. So we packed up the jeep, with the red retro sleigh, boots, camera’s, light stands and a shovel, then we headed out to find somewhere we could bring Dali for sleigh ride hike and shoot some photos. We ended up down on lakeshore way at the end on Champlain Park side, unpacked all our stuff got Dali dressed and then we were ready. Dali was awesome in his vintage sleigh, rolling threw the snow like a Canadian veteran, all tho when the wind would blow Dali would close his eyes and make some kind of wooo sound. Thats some fresh air buddy!
So this is what we have been up to as Dali grows and is now 1 years old, so if its nice out you should bundel up and head outside for some nice refreshing winter forest hike. It will make you feel better thats for sure but whatever you do….
Don’t forget your shovel.
